On autumn 2022 the Swedish agricultural school Naturbruksförvaltningen planted more than 1300 trees and bushes in their agroforestry model farm as part of the project U-garden. The planted trees and bushes include a wide variety of berries, nut-trees, forest trees, nitrogen-fixing plants, and other species whose purpose is to support the local biodiversity, protect the crops from strong winds and produce berries and nuts for human consumption!
Agroforestry is an interesting land-use system where different tree species are being planted together with annual crops or animals to mimic natural ecosystems and increase the production on farms.
